Members and players of Stone CC,
Another winter gives way to spring bringing longer days, and already Don has been out on many occasions to tend the square and get the playing surface up to his usual high standard. It amazes me that we have one of the best squares in the county, yet constantly struggle for players. I see many grounds in my travels as a Birmingham League umpire and I can honestly say (maybe with a little bias!!) that our playing surface is up there with the very best.
One up and coming youngster we have had to wave goodbye to recently, is Chris Harler who is enrolling with Kidderminster Victoria C C and I am sure you will join me in wishing him well in his promotional aspirations and hope he scores many runs and gleans lots of wickets in the future. We will all be watching the results !!
All please be aware of the social events that we organise, that boosts the bank balance to pay for the overheads on the ground, March Quiz Night, June BBQ and six-a-side, September Race Night, November Presentation Night and the Christmas Raffle. The subscriptions are held again at £20 for the year, BUT, this presupposes that we have money coming in to subsidise the years cricket. So, please do your best to support all the events possible, and bring friends, neighbours, enemies, everyone. OK? nuff said.
We have to think seriously about the Sight Screen and Square covering that the Worcestershire League have "demanded" of us which must be provided by April 2011. All put your thinking caps on and come up with ways in which this can be achieved please. It is a major outlay of club funds and if we can be constructive as to how we do it without upsetting either our landlord or the League, I for one would be delighted. Suggestions please in a plain brown envelope !!!
